DMfest is organised by the Digital Media Chapter of the Singapore infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF) to bridge the usually separate communities of IT and media production.
This year's event, which is focused on the theme Television 2.0: Internet Services and New Media Mashup, comes at an opportune time, as the ubiquity of high speed communications and the proliferation of devices transform the way content is delivered to the end user, and how the end user interacts with this content.
For the IT community, a world of richly interactive media applications beckons. Increasingly, streaming, webcasting and video conferencing are being incorporated into mainstream business requirements.
For the media production community, there is a need to partner IT players to explore new channels for delivering content to end users. Recent launches of Internet television channels and delivery platforms in Singapore, such as MobTV, WoW, Mio and RazorTV, attest to this.
As the leading digital media event in the region, DMfest brings together thought leaders who will share their insights into the new business models of the Television 2.0 world, the latest production techniques, and how the ICT and media production communities can come together to explore new opportunities in this space.
DMFest 2008 will open with a festival of made-for-Internet and made-for-mobile films, followed by a full day of conference tracks and breakout sessions. The event also incorporates an exciting line-up of fringe activities such as a Recruitment Fair, Business Matching Workshop, MDA Programme Awareness Forum, Mobile Applications and Content Showcase, Games & Simulations Showcase (GXA) and a Sponsors Showcase.
